A cozy game about vacuuming

Vacuum Simulator

Inherit Grandma Dot's cleaning business. Mow stripes into carpet, wrangle the cord, and build a crew of robot vacuums.

Mac · Windows · Linux keyboard and mouse, or a controller

The business is yours

Grandma Dot is hanging up her apron, and she's leaving you her cleaning business: a garage, a well-loved vacuum, and a corkboard full of neighbors who need a hand.

How a job goes

Stripes

Every pass leaves a stripe

Pick a job and get to work. Every home is different, and every pass leaves a satisfying stripe in the carpet. Push up, pull back, and watch the carpet get clean.

Cord

Wrangle the cord

Your vacuum is plugged into the wall, and the cord only reaches so far. It pulls tight, catches on table legs, and has to be moved to the next outlet.

Brush off

Mind the brushroll

The spinning brushroll lifts the dust out of carpet. It also flings cereal right across the kitchen tiles. Switch it off on hard floors, and it all comes up.

Crew

A crew of little robots

Buy bumper bots for the business, pick their colors, give them stickers, and upgrade them with modules. They do their rows while you do yours, and boink off the furniture as they go.

Spotless

No timers. No rush.

You decide when a home is clean enough. Wrap up, get paid, and watch your reputation rise. Get every room spotless and the stars land with a little fanfare.

A letter from Dot

My dear,

Forty-one years I pushed a vacuum round this neighborhood, and my knees have finally put in a complaint. So the Business is yours now: the Garage, my old upright, the Job Board and every Client pinned on it.

Don’t fret. Start small, take the grubby bits slowly, and pick the socks up before the Vacuum does. The neighbors will talk either way, so give them something nice to say.

I’m proud of you already.

All my love, Dot

Grow the business

  • Upgrades

Suction, floor head, motor, dustbin, cord, and more. Your old upright gets better with every job.

  • More vacuums

Heavy-duty uprights and nimble stick vacs, each with its own quirks. Paint them however you want.

  • Trinkets

Sixty lost things are hiding around the neighborhood, like a wishbone, a tin soldier, and Dot's missing sock. Collect them for perks.

  • Bonus homes

Special jobs with a twist, like a haunted house with drifting dust bunnies, a glitter party, and a power outage where you clean by headlight.

  • Reputation

Earn stars to unlock bigger homes, and read Dot's letters along the way as the neighborhood starts to talk.

  • The Mansion

Somewhere at the top of the hill is a house bigger than all the rest…

About the game

Vacuum Simulator is a cozy pixel-art game about cleaning homes. Grandma Dot leaves you her cleaning business, and it's up to you to mow stripes into carpet, wrangle the cord, mind the brushroll, and decide when a home is clean enough. Then grow the business with upgrades and a crew of robot vacuums.

The long description

Grandma Dot is hanging up her apron, and she's leaving you her cleaning business: a garage, a well-loved vacuum, and a corkboard full of neighbors who need a hand.

Pick a job and get to work. Every home is different, and every pass leaves a satisfying stripe in the carpet. Suck up crumbs. Wrangle the cord from outlet to outlet. Empty the dustbin before the suction fades, and switch the brushroll off before it flings cereal across the kitchen tiles. There are no timers and no rush. You decide when a home is clean enough, wrap up, get paid, and watch your reputation rise.

As the neighborhood starts to talk, Dot writes to you, the homes get bigger, and the garage fills up. Upgrade your vacuum's suction, head, motor, dustbin, and cord. Buy a heavy-duty upright or a nimble stick vac. Build a crew of little robot vacuums, upgrade them with modules, and give them stickers. Find 60 small things people have lost under their furniture, from a wishbone to Dot's own sock, and fill the glass cabinet in the garage. Later on there are special jobs, like a haunted house, a power outage, and moving day. And somewhere at the top of the hill is the Mansion.

A lighthearted game for short sessions or long ones, made by JosNun.
